OOTD - Primark Overload

You have got to love these instagram mirror selfie shots. Did any of you even notice the subtle rise in outfit posts? My camera is still being fixed so beauty posts will resume once I get it back. But on to the outfit!! Look at those tights! I picked them up in Penneys/Primark at the start of the week. My firend and I had spotted them on the Primark instagram account last week and I was so excited to see them in my local. They were only 3.50€ which isn't too bad at all so I picked both of us up a pair. Trust me, my friend diiiieeeeed. I paired mine with this quilted style top and a high waisted, zip detailed skirt which was 11€ and they were both from Penneys/Primark. The skirt is a little big so doesn't clinch in properly so I'm going to have to get inventive with some safety pins. Penneys/Primark sizing has gone to hell over the last year and I really wish they would sort it out. Especially if they continue to slowly rise the prices.
The game is up Primark - we've noticed.

Mom Jeans.

If you follow me on Instagram (if not : JesskaDenise) you will know that I recently dipped a cautious toe into the world of 'Mom Jeans'. They're everywhere right now. In case you weren't already aware, the 90s are having a comeback and this time around it's a little less 'Beverly Hills 90210' and more your new age '90210'.
When I first saw them in Penneys I was immediately put off. 'Pfft Mom jeans? Ew.' Images such as this one started popping into my mind.

NOT a good luck right?
But then they were reduced to a fiver and I had seen some bloggers pulling em off and Miley rocked some prior to her infamous makeover - so I thought 'why not?'. I wore them with a basic black shirt from Penneys and my favourite booties. You know the ones ;)
I really like them. They're no where near as unflattering as you would think and I kind of prefer them to my American Apparel high waisted skinnies. They're roomier okay..
What do you guys think? Mom Jeans - Yay or Nay?

Currently Reading.

This week I picked up 'An Abundance of Katherines' by John Green after a friend said she had started to read it. I hear somebody start to talk about something and I instantly want to buy it. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is so easily swayed. Surprisingly enough it's actually one of the only John Green books that never hit my radar. I'm a lousy two chapters in and so far so good. I can see myself racing through it by the end of the weekend. Sometimes I feel like John Green is one of tumblrs worst kept secrets. I never see his books mentioned outside of that little bubble. Come summer and the release of 'The Fault in Our Stars' however, that will be a whole other story. The trailer for 'TFIOS' slightly wounded me so I can only imagine how heart wrenching the movie will be. I think I may need to carry a box of tissues along with me.

Primark OOTD

I'm tartan obsessed right now. If you open my wardrobe you will drown in a sea of tarteness. Skirts, leggings, tops, tights. Yes tights. Actually you'll probably drown in a sea of clothes as my wardrobe bursts open every time I open the doors but that's a whooole other issue. I picked up this skirt in good aul Penneys/Primark a few months ago. I was on the hunt for one for ages and finally found this beauty. I can't wait for summer to come around so I can get some proper wear out of it. Oh summer. I hate February to April. They're such awkward months. It's kind of winter but it's kind of summer. Spring does not exist in my mind which is probably why I've spent the last three and a half weeks ridiculously sick. I'm on the mend now thankfully. Took some antibiotics to get me here and not to brag or anything but I can almost (almost) breathe through my nose again. So cute right? I've learned from my mistakes and I'm now bundling myself up in three to five layers. Those layers are absent from these glam instagram shots but trust me, they happened and I was nice and toasty whilst I spent all my money in Tally. Again.
Hope you're all having a good week so far.

How to : Beach Waves.

 (got2be beach matt salt spray - 4.00€ @ Boots)
The 'got2be beach matt salt spray' isn't my first foray into salt sprays. I know, I know - how shocking. Back in the day I was a massive fan of one Garnier used to do but I haven't been able to find it since. It's always the way right? Due to hype and nothing else I have been tempted by the 'Bumble and Bumble' spray I can't bring myself to pay the ridiculous price tag so hopefully if you're like me you may find this a great alternative. Cheaper too. I spotted this a few weeks ago in Tesco and although I was tempted to toss it into the trolley on the sly I didn't. Thank da lord because I then found it on offer in Boots last week for 4€. It was 5€+ in tesco. Bargaineous.

I love wavy hair. It always looks so effortless and that's what we want right? To look like we haven't gone to any effort at all. I'm constantly lusting after celebrities and their perfectly wavy looking hair. Especially the Pretty Little Liars. How can one show give me so much envy? *sigh* But now thanks to this little gem you don't need a celebrity hair stylist to get your hair red carpet ready.
When it comes to hair you don't want to try styling it when it's freshly washed. It's too clean and there's no grit to hold that bit of a wave or curl even. I have naturally wavy hair to begin with so achieving a bit a wave on wet hair is never too much trouble for me. But getting the perfect 'beach' wave on dry hair has always been a struggle. So you can imagine my surprise when I gave this a spray and instantly started to see the beginnings of the perfect beach wave. To create my waves I did the following :
  • Brushed out any knots from my hair.
  • Sprayed the bottom of my hair.
  • Scrunched my hair upwards.
  • I then sprayed and scrunched one more time.
This is the look I achieved using the spray on day old dry straight hair. It's pretty fab isn't it? I only ever wave the ends of my hair as I feel all over waves on my hair looks a little ridonk. I did the above method twice just to make sure the wave would fully form and I'm really impressed. It looked as though my hair had just dried that way and the pieces of hair weren't knotty or stuck together like they do be with some products. I managed to get two days of waves without having to repeat the whole spray and scrunch process. Brilliant as my hair generally tends to lose hold of anything after a few hours.
So to summarize - I really love this 'got2be beach matt spray'. As someone who constantly uses a hair curler to create their waves this makes a nice change and well deserved break for my hair. It doesn't take as long as the curler either. Just a few seconds and you're out the door. Perfect for those mornings when you're running late for collge. ie. every morning.

Ps.I'm currently having camera issues so please forgive the iPhone and photobooth shots.
